Sarah Hammerton

Sarah is a Forensic Nurse Examiner who specialises in Sexual Offences. She has worked in health since leaving school aged 16. Once She qualified as a nurse she went on to study public health and later forensic nursing. This involves conducting forensic examinations on young people and adults and conducting health and wellbeing assessments to minimise the risk of harm to the patient, including the risk of domestic abuse and working towards safeguarding the patient. Sarah is post graduate qualified and works in Sexual Assault Referral Centres and custody to keep herself current.

She also works with organisations to raise awareness about sexual assault and forensic awareness. This includes delivering training to policr forces regarding the SARC process and intimate swabbing in custody.

She feels it is essential to take early steps to help vulnerable people.

Sarah is qualified in medical and forensic photography. Sarah is a member of the Chartered Institute of Forensic Sciences and is a Licenciate of the British Institute of Professional Photography. She is planning to study to PhD and also complete training as an Expert Witness in Sexual Assault
