The Freedom Bootcamp

A one-day session designed to develop the skills to recognise abuse coached by Marilyn Hawes and the Freedom From Abuse team.

“What an outstanding days training that was! Marilyn is so passionate about getting the message out there and with such a wealth of knowledge I feel she could have easily kept going for another 5 hours!”

A tried and tested approach

Marilyn led a spellbinding presentation where the pupils where engaged from the outset. Her delivery, ability to capture imagination and engage the pupils is fantastic. I cannot recommend her highly enough. This is the second time we have used Marilyn from Freedom From Abuse UK to deliver training.

Marilyn is clear from the start of her talks that her approach is hard-hitting, blunt and to the point and she speaks with great passion, energy and emotion. Our staff found Marilyn’s personal experiences on the subject of safeguarding to be affecting and thought-provoking, taking many out of their comfort zones.

There is no doubt that Marilyn Hawes made quite an impact, as I expected she would do, and the consequent level of discussion and debate was considerable that day and in the days following.  She raised quite a few issues for us all to think about, many of which are not comfortable, and yet that is exactly what we needed from an external speaker.

Marilyn packed real punch and creditability, as an ex teacher and mother of abused children. Marilyn speaks in very clear and plain English, spelling out not only the dangers and the effects of abuse but offers an informed insight into how abusers operate. Marilyn delivered three hours of the most useful training experience I could ever provide my team.
