A tried and tested approach

Read the stories of those we’ve helped.

The subject matter wasn't easy and Marilyn is honest and very frank, but this wasn't necessarily a bad thing and resulted in a huge level of raised awareness about the potential dangers to children. Feedback was almost all very positive and although everyone needed to take some time to 'digest what they'd learned'

I am unable to count the number of times that her training has been referred to throughout the past term, sometimes in difficult circumstances. In terms of value, her training is excellent and long-lasting. I would therefore recommend her strongly as part of a programme of safeguarding training.

Marilyn is clear from the start of her talks that her approach is hard-hitting, blunt and to the point and she speaks with great passion, energy and emotion. Our staff found Marilyn’s personal experiences on the subject of safeguarding to be affecting and thought-provoking, taking many out of their comfort zones.

There is no doubt that Marilyn Hawes made quite an impact, as I expected she would do, and the consequent level of discussion and debate was considerable that day and in the days following.  She raised quite a few issues for us all to think about, many of which are not comfortable, and yet that is exactly what we needed from an external speaker.
